Saturday Baking Funsies

Updated: Mar 4, 2020

So Saturday I had the day all to myself and thought what a better way to use my free day than to cook! I serve on the hospitality team at my church and usually I buy doughnuts and such from the store to serve, so to make homemade breakfast treats would be a nice treat and surprise for everyone. I was gifted the Magnolia Table cookbook last year and everything recipe I have tried has turned out really well.

I decided to make Sour Cream Coffee Cake, Bacon Gruyere Biscuits (YUM-O), Cinnamon-Pecan Squares and Banana Bread. My church family definitely enjoyed all the goodies and Sophie, my sweet puppy, enjoyed following me around the kitchen while preparing them!

I made 2 packages of bacon while I was at it. Take a baking sheet, line with foil, place a cooling rack on top of the foil, spray with non-stick spray, then place the bacon on the racks. Place in pre-heated 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. The bacon will release easily from the racks! Let the grease cool slightly before removing the foil and carefully fold up the foil and place in the trash for a super easy clean up. Now I have bacon all week long for breakfasts, baked potatoes, salads, soup toppings...anything is better with bacon!!!!

Insanely delicious Cinnamon Pecan Squares
